From a subtle stache to a full handlebar, here are the classic mustache styles and the upkeep each one needs.
Find your style
The natural / chevron
Thick and covering the top lip — low effort, high impact, suits most face shapes.
The horseshoe
Extends down the sides of the mouth; bold and retro.
The handlebar
Longer with curled ends, held with wax. High maintenance but a real statement.
The pencil / trimmed
Neat and understated for a clean look.
Growing it in
Give it four to six weeks before judging — mustaches fill in unevenly at first. Resist trimming too early.
Daily upkeep
- Comb it daily and trim along the lip line.
- Use a little wax for shape, or balm for softness.
- Keep it clear of the mouth so it stays comfortable.
Get the shape set
A barber can establish the lines and symmetry that are hard to nail yourself. Add it to a beard trim near me, or ask the team at Artur’s Barber Shop to shape the mustache while they are at it.
